For months Alan Conway, a perfect stranger, passed himself off as one of the greatest film directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick.
Magnolia Pictures is proud to present COLOR ME KUBRICK, (based on a true...ish story) starring JOHN MALKOVICH, in theaters March 23rd, and on DVD March 27th. This March, decide how you want to check out this (true...ish) story of one man's quest to take a short cut to fame. COLOR ME KUBRICK will open in theatres across the country on March 23rd and will be shown digitally in Landmark Theatres where available. On the same night, HDNet Movies will broadcast the television premiere of COLOR ME KUBRICK twice, at 8:00 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. EST. Magnolia Home Entertainment will release the DVD through retail outlets on Tuesday, March 27th, immediately following the theatrical release, as Tuesday is the standard release day for DVDs throughout the retail market.
Conway is brought uproariously to life by John Malkovich in a jaw-dropping tour de force, in which he stops at nothing in depicting Conway's shameless character, whether cadging a few quid for cab fare, or pulling off more outrageous scams. Director Brian Cook, who served as assistant director on Kubrick's THE SHINING, BARRY LYNDON, and EYES WIDE SHUT, along with screenwriter Anthony Frewin, who acted as Kubrick's personal assitant from 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY on, bring an intimate knowledge of both the legendary director and Conway's antics to this hilarious and fascinating true story. As producer Michael Fitzgerald notes, "The film has three hidden messages : One, anyone can be Stanley Kubrick.
