Disc 1 – Requiem For A Dream

Darren Aronofsky’s masterpiece is a gritty and emotionally charged film set amidst the abandoned beaches and faded glory of Coney Island, Brooklyn. Based upon the critically acclaimed novel by Hubert Selby Jr., the story intricately links the lives of a lonely widowed mother (Academy Award Winner Ellen Burstyn), her son Harry (Jared Leto), his beautiful girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) and his best friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans).

Disc 2 – Hubert Selby Jr: It/ll Be Better Tomorrow

Hubert Selby Jr. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and spent much of his adult life in the grips of a serious drug addiction that both defined his life and literature. His acclaimed novels were as stylistically unique, disturbing and painfully beautiful as Hubert himself. This is the story of the contemporary literary genius and co-screenwriter of Requiem For A Dream.

Narrated by Robert Downey Jr., this is a harrowing and engaging exploration of the life and art of Hubert Selby Jr. overcame incredible odds to become one of the 20th century’s most celebrated and controversial authors. With "Last Exit to Brooklyn" and "Requiem for a Dream" Selby's works went on to stun film audiences around the world ensuring Selby's canon of work some of the most remarkable and distinctly American books ever written.
