  ThinkSync Filmmakers Competition [read more]
  For budding Tarantinos
19th February 2007, London: ThinkSync Films is today delighted to launch its competition for independent filmmakers for the second year running.

Founded in 2006 by Connie Farr (Cacophony Music) and Oli Harbottle (formerly of Raindance Film Festival and now of Dogwoof Pictures), the competition brings together independent film makers with independent record labels and publishers. Entrants to the competition submit short films that incorporate one or more tracks provided freely downloadable from Thinksync Films’ website www.thinksyncfilms.com. No other music (other than these tracks) is permitted to feature in the short. The competition is based around the most skilful and appropriate use of the music within the film. It should not bear any resemblance to a ‘music video.’

There is a selection of over 35 tracks covering a variety of genres and artists from electronic and instrumental through to drum & bass and rock.

Finally, to add another element, the theme for this year’s competition is ‘TWIST’, with each film maker allowed to interpret this in any way it sees fit.

The five finalists will be screened as part of a special event which will also include performances from some of the labels involved. Last year saw a party for over 500 people with performances from Andrew Weatherall, Radioactive Man and Addictive TV amongst others.

Last year’s finalists have gone on to have their films featured in international film festivals, as well as receiving commissions for advertising and video projects, and gaining further exposure via world wide TV and downloads on Sony PSP.
