“The best Spanish movie of its type since Fernando Leon's 1998 Bario…”

It is summer in a deprived, blue-collar region of southern Spain and Tano (Juan José Ballesta), a rebellious teenager currently serving time in a juvenile reform center, is given 48-hours leave to attend his brother's wedding. Together with his best friend Richi (Jesús Carroza), Tano plans to make the most of his temporary freedom by doing all the things he is normally prohibited from doing.
He drinks, takes drugs, steals, has sex and hangs out with equally delinquent friends, exerting his freedom with the full force of a hopeless teenager. However, by the end of the 48 hours, Tano has also witnessed the collapse of all the things he has taken for granted in his life: his neighborhood, his family, his friends -everything is somehow different for him. More than just two days of freedom, Tano's leave period turns out to be a journey into maturity.
7 VIRGINS is the blistering fourth film from writer and director Alberto Rodríguez and another entry into TLA Releasing’s catalogue of quality and diverse Spanish cinema. Profoundly affecting, 7 VIRGINS stands alongside the likes of La Haine for examining disaffected youth, and lingers in the memory long after the closing credits as a result.
