“A respectably crafted, earnest ensemble drama”
-Variety.com
“Sharply moving...the film becomes jarringly effective at
forcing us to confront the forgotten truths of our own lives.”
-Rich Cline, Shadowsonthewall.co.uk
A young gay drifter and his search for acceptance drives LOGGERHEADS, a heartfelt, beautifully crafted tale of family, rejection and unconditional love. In a North Carolina beach town, lonely motel manager, George (Michael Kelly, Dawn Of The Dead, Unbreakable), befriends the attractive vagabond, Michael (Kip Pardue, The Rules Of Attraction, Thirteen). While claiming to be in town to protect the endangered Loggerhead turtles, Michael may actually be running away from something.
Elsewhere, preacher’s wife Elizabeth (Tess Harper, The Jackal, Judging Amy) notices that a pair of gay men has just moved across the street. Elizabeth is appalled, but her feelings are masking an even deeper disturbance. Another woman, Grace (Bonnie Hunt, Cheaper By The Dozen, The Green Mile), is also coming to terms with the pain of having given up a child for adoption years before.
LOGGERHEADS is a powerful, sexy and affecting examination of family and relationships that marks the feature debut of Tim Kirkman (When Larry Kramer Kissed Me) who has revealed himself to be a humanistic and gifted auteur for coaxing remarkable performances from a talented cast.
