Joe Strummer, lead singer and guitarist from seminal punks The Clash has died of a heart attack, aged 50. As well as fronting one of the most influential groups in modern rock, Strummer acted in several films, most notably Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train (1989) and Alex Cox’s Straight To Hell (1987) [also Rude Boy - Ed]. He also composed the soundtrack for Grosse Pointe Blank (1997). He leaves a wife and family.
