  Irreversible Special Edition [read more]
  Something to lower the tone
When Marcus, his girlfriend Alex, and best mate, Pierre, decide to go to party, they are totally unaware that their world is about to be torn apart in the most unimaginably brutal way possible. Plunged headlong into a nightmarish world of darkness, where an act of extreme sexual and physical violence will serve as the spark for yet more violence, Marcus and Pierre soon discover what they themselves are capable of.

One of the most talked about film, Irréversible has established itself as one of the most powerful, stylish films of modern cinema. Initially, audiences were shocked and outraged at Gaspar Noe’s uncompromising depiction of violence, which starts off with the brutal darkness of the nightmare before revealing the reasons for Marcus’ actions. As a result, it has been recognised as a landmark movie, acclaimed for its reverse storytelling, camerawork and the powerful performances of its two international stars.

Now, in this Collector’s Edition, a whole host of extras reveal the origins of the film through the words of the three main collaborators: director Gaspar Noe and its two main stars, Monica Bellucci (The Matrix: Reloaded; The Brothers Grimm) and Vincent Cassel (La Haine; Shrek; Elizabeth) A behind the scenes feature on ‘Le Rectum’ club revisits one of the most shocking and memorable scenes. Gaspar’s unique directing skills are further demonstrated in his short film ‘Intoxication, and two music videos he shot for Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter.

Irreversible: Collector's Edition is available on retail DVD only (£19.99 each) from the 4th of December.
