  Arrow in September [read more]
Streaming is the spice of life
Key highlights this SEPTEMBER on the essential, alternative streaming service ARROW include the exclusive premiere of Zoé Wittock's extraordinary debut feature JUMBO, eerie gem I SEE YOU, classic Bertolucci and Milos Forman, a double-bill of Debra Winger, an outrageously wicked French comedy, a trio of extraordinary films about the legendary Hollywood director SAM PECKINPAH, a slasher sequel par excellence, a season of GAMERA films, and so much more...

In her feature debut, JUMBO, writer/director Zoé Wittock brings gleeful energy, buoyant humor, and surrealistic style to an unusual type of love story - one between woman and machine. Taking the perspective of Jeanne, who is played with focus and emotion by Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), allows us to enter her world of self-discovery and exhilaration for her literal object of desire - a Tilt-A-Whirl amusement park ride that she decides to call Jumbo - while her devoted mother struggles to understand and accept her unconventional choices.

For some chills and thrills in September, there is up-and-coming British director Adam Randall's twist-heavy thriller I SEE YOU, described by The Hollywood Reporter as "a finely crafted exercise in slow-burn suspense". Starring Jon Tenney (True Detective) and Academy Award winner Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets) this is an eerie gem, where nothing is as it seems and the terrible truth behind a family's dark secrets might just be hiding in plain sight; 1968's rarely-screened, nightmarishly disorienting creepshow, THE SNAKE GIRL AND THE SILVER-HAIRED WITCH, a fantastically phantasmagorical slice of twisted terror ostensibly made for children that will irreparably traumatise any child that sees it; and Adam Green’s superlative horror sequel, HATCHET 2, with the mad axeman Victor Crowley (played by Kane Hodder) returning to cause more carnage in the swamps.

New Seasons this September include PAPERBACK PASSIONS, channelling some serious literary inspiration with a selection of our favourite literary adaptations, including The Bloodhound, Dark Water, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Sleeping Dogs, and Crash; MAGNIFIQUE, a collection of all the best films from the other side of the "channel", such as Toto the Hero, The Love of a Woman, and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend; HOME SWEET HOME, a peek behind the curtains and find out just how many skeletons some residents have in their closets, with the likes of I See You, Incident in a Ghostland, and After Midnight; two GAMERA seasons for fans of the giant monster hero; and FORBIDDEN LOVE, guaranteed to ignite a spark and unlock those passions hidden deep within... with Story of Sin, Love and Other Cults, and Nymphomaniac.
