Tideturner Films and Dartmouth Films are thrilled to release the critically acclaimed documentary I AM BELMAYA from director Sue Carpenter and co-director Belmaya Nepali, in cinemas and on demand from 15th October 2021 to honour International Day of the Girl Child.
'I Am Belmaya' won Best Documentary at UK Asian Film Festival, an Award of Excellence at WRPN Women's International Film Festival, and was nominated for a One World Media Award.
Spanning 14 years, it follows the life of Belmaya Nepali as she takes up a camera to tell her story. Previously silenced, both in her marriage and within the patriarchal system in Nepal, the film documents Belmaya's transformation as she reclaims her voice through filmmaking.
