Fayard Nicholas, half of the astonishing dancing duo the Nicholas Brothers, has died aged 91. They became much talked about after performing at the Cotton Club during the 1930s and quickly made appearances in films such as Orchestra Wives, Stormy Weather, The Pirate (with Gene Kelly) and others, usually as a show-stopping speciality act. They inspired generations of dancers, including Fred Astaire, with their incredible athleticism. Brother Harold died in 2000.
