His films BREATHLESS, PIERROT LE FOU, WEEKEND, BAND OF OUTSIDERS and many others have secured his place in history as one of the founding fathers of modern cinema, influencing everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Wes Anderson.
ON BODY AND SOUL represents a celebrated comeback to feature filmmaking for director Ildikó Enyedi whose debut film MY TWENTIETH CENTURY won the Caméra d'Or at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival with 1999’s follow-up Simon the Magician also receiving critical praise. The film, which won the Golden Bear prize at the 67th Berlin Film Festival and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, follows two introverted people, both workers in a meat-processing plant, one a world-weary financial director, the other an obsessive quality controller, who find out by chance that they share the same dream every night. They are puzzled, incredulous and frightened. As they begin to accept this strange coincidence, they try to recreate in broad daylight what happens in their shared subconscious.
Ildikó Enyedi is a Hungarian director and writer. She is known for her HBO Europe series Terápia which ran from 2012 - 2014.
