John McNaughton’s disturbing, controversial 1986 film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer has finally been passed uncut by the BBFC, for both theatrical and DVD release. The film, starring Michael Rooker and loosely based on the real-life exploits of serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, has suffered badly at the hands of the BBFC in past years, most notoriously when former head censor James Ferman re-edited the scene in which Henry and accomplice Otis videotape the rape and murder of a family in order to lessen its impact. The film will be released to cinemas on May 2nd, and will hit DVD and VHS on May 26th.
