Altitude have announced the critically acclaimed directorial debut of actor, writer and comedian Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners, Friday Night Dinner) DAYS OF THE BAGNOLD SUMMER will be released in the UK and Ireland on digital platforms from June 8th. From the producer of Yesterday Matthew James Wilkinson and co-produced by Isabelle Georgeaux.
The film’s cast includes BAFTA-winning actress Monica Dolan (Eye in the Sky, W1A), Earl Cave (True History of the Kelly Gang, The End of the F***ing World), Rob Brydon (The Trip, A Cock and Bull Story), Alice Lowe (Prevenge, Sightseers), Tamsin Greig (The Second Best Marigold Hotel, Green Wing), Tim Key (Greed, This Time with Alan Partridge) and Elliot Speller-Gillot (Uncle).
DAYS OF THE BAGNOLD SUMMER is an adaptation of Joff Winterhart's graphic novel of the same name published by Jonathan Cape, it is the first graphic novel to be nominated for the Costa Book Award. The BIFA nominated screenplay is by Lisa Owens, author of the novel Not Working (a Foyles 'book of the year' which has now been translated into nine languages). Produced by Matthew James Wilkinson of Stigma Films (alongside Yesterday his credits include Amulet, and upcoming The Score) and co-produced by Isabelle Georgeaux of Pont Neuf Productions (Calibre, Keeping Rosy). Wilkinson and Georgeaux previously collaborated as producer and co-producer respectively on The Call-Up.
A heavy-metal-loving teenager's holiday plans fall through at the last minute, meaning he must spend the whole summer with the person who annoys him most in the world: his mum.
