Noor (Zara La Peta Webb) is a selfie-obsessed British teen who reluctantly journeys to conflict-torn Kashmir with her mother, Zainab (Natasha Mago), who must get her husband's death certificate signed by her in-laws in order to remarry.
In Kashmir, she meets Majid (Shivan Raina), a local Kashmiri boy smitten by her exotic foreignness. A tender fondness blossoms between this charming pair, pulled even closer together when Noor makes a sinister discovery: both Majid and her fathers were probably tortured and killed during interrogations, making them 'disappear' decades ago in 'crackdowns' by the army.
Not knowing if their husbands are dead or alive their mothers have since lived as 'half-widows' and both Noor and Majid have lived as 'half-orphans' - the army denying involvement and refusing information, leaving entire families in limbo ever since.
