  Box of Blood [read more]
Something to get your teeth into
If you love vampire movies then be prepared for a bargain from Anchor Bay UK this Monday. Over to the press release for the information you need:

From Anchor Bay UK comes the bloodiest DVD boxed set ever! Gathering together, for the first time ever, five classic vampire movies - NEAR DARK, NOSFERATU, VAMPYRES, DRACULA and VAMPIRES: OUT FOR BLOOD - Anchor Bay's BOX OF BLOOD is a frightful feast of film that every horror fan will want to sink their teeth into.

This strictly limited edition six-disc boxed set comes packaged in a superb, eye-catching "blood pouch" box and also includes an exclusive Vampire documentary that will only be available as part of this specially priced DVD collection.

Regarded by many as the greatest vampire movie of all time, Kathryn Bigelow's NEAR DARK stars Bill Paxton (Titanic; Twister; Aliens; The Terminator) and Lance Henriksen (Pumpkinhead; Aliens; The Terminator) in a violent, post-modern horror fable concerning a family of bloodsuckers on the rampage across America's Deep South.

One of the best adaptations of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" ever committed to celluloid, Werner Herzog's NOSFERATU takes much of its visual inspiration from F.W. Murnau's classic 1922 film of the same name. Starring Klaus Kinski (Fitzcarraldo), Isabelle Adjani (La Reine Margot; Camille Claudel) and Bruno Ganz (Wings Of Desire), the film is simply one of the most sorrowful and beautiful vampire films ever made.

A landmark entry in both the horror and erotic cinema genres, Spanish director José Ramón Larraz's VAMPYRES stars Marianne Morris (Percy's Progress) and former Playboy centrefold Anulka Dziubinska (The Likely Lads; Lisztomania) as a pair beautiful, bisexual female vampires who, by night, roam the English countryside posing as hitchhikers in order to lure unsuspecting men back to their remote country estate, where they have sex with their victims before feasting on their blood and killing them. Heavily censored for its original cinema release, the film is now presented uncut and uncensored, with all its notorious scenes of sex and violence fully restored.

Lance Henriksen (Alien Vs. Predator; Scream 3), Kevin Dillon (The Doors; The Blob; Platoon), Vanessa Angel (Kingpin) and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe (The Crow: Salvation; She's All That; Halloween H2O) star in VAMPIRES: OUT FOR BLOOD, the tale of a troubled LAPD detective who stumbles across a coven of vampires flourishing amid the underground club scene of modern-day Los Angeles. A sexy and gory crowd-pleaser that adds an interesting new spin to modern-day vampire legends, OUT FOR BLOOD is a welcome addition to the vampire genre.

DRACULA is a stunning, contemporary adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic novel, updated and set in modern-day Europe, and starring Patrick Bergin (Eye Of The Beholder; Patriot Games; Sleeping With The Enemy), Giancarlo Giannini (Hannibal; Mimic) and Stefania Rocca (Heaven; The Talented Mr. Ripley). Beautifully shot on location in Hungary, it presents a modern and highly original interpretation of Stoker's novel that still manages to remain remarkably faithful to its source material.

The six-disc BOX OF BLOOD (CERT. 18) will be released on DVD (£29.99) by Anchor Bay UK on 22nd August 2005. Special Features include widescreen presentations, Stereo 2.0 plus optional 5.1 and DTS audio, English subtitles for the hard of hearing, audio commentaries, "making of" and "behind-the-scenes" featurettes, trailers, biographies, filmographies, film notes and stills galleries.
