Principal photography has begun in Alabama on Big Fish, Tim Burton's first film since 2001's largely hopeless Planet of the Apes remake. It's based on Daniel Wallace's acclaimed novel and tells the story of a William Bloom, a young man who starts to recreate the youth of his dying father Edward as a series of legends and myths. Billy Crudup stars as William, with Albert Finney and Ewan McGregor playing the old and young Edward. Steve Buscemi, Danny De Vito and Helena Bonham Carter co-star. Sounds pretty good to me... expect it late 2003/early 2004.
