The death of actor Shane Rimmer has been announced today, one of the most recognisable "that guy" performers, largely in British productions needing an American-sounding voice for international appeal (Rimmer was Canadian). That voice would be most recognisable for Scott Tracy in Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Thunderbirds, but he was in plenty of genre work, from three James Bonds to Doctor Who, Warlords of Atlantis to two Superman movies, Out of Africa to the voice of Dick Spanner... his filmography was substantial, and even if he rarely won a lead role, he carried many a film and TV episode with his authority.
