  One woman's journey
British filmmaker May Miles Thomas takes us on a journey into a maze of a woman's memories in her new film, Voyageuse which screens at Glasgow Film Theatre from 24-26th August ahead of its wider cinema release in the Autumn. In addition, there's a special Q&A on Sunday 26th August with director May Miles Thomas in conversation with film journalist and broadcaster Siobhan Synnot.

Additionally, Picturehouse Central, in London is screening the film on 14th September with both May Miles Thomas and Siân Phillips in attendance.

You can view the trailer here at the link above.

When her mother-in-law Erica Thomas died in 2004, May discovered a vast archive of material to sift through, revealing more about the woman she didn't know than the woman she did. The film pieces together the story of Erica's and her Hungarian family's flight to England on the eve of WW2. It also traces their links to post-war espionage as well as her own involvement in covert British scientific experiments during the Cold War.

With a combination of documentary and poetic imagination, May creates an extraordinary portrait of a woman who hid a complex past. In Voyageuse she uncovers dark secrets, long-held familial resentments and the joys and sorrows of a career forfeited when Erica finally fell in love.
