If you needed an untrustworthy, steely eyed official for your bad guy in the movies of the seventies and eighties, then John Vernon was your man. This Canadian actor first gained fame in his homegrown TV show Wojek, then moved to Hollywood, featuring in such cult favourites as Point Blank, Dirty Harry, Fear is the Key, Charley Varrick, Sweet Movie, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Brannigan, Animal House (as the Dean), Chained Heat (as the prison warden with a hot tub in his office!), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. He died at the age of 72. |
