Catering to the boom in traditional and digital production, Midwood Istanbul Film Studios will open its full-service, 125-acre complex in Turkey by the end of 2018. The studio announced the first production to utilize its location and services comes from Bollywood, an affirming step forward for the state of the art facility currently under construction.
Midwood's Chairman of the Board and main investor, Ahmet San, hosted leading Bollywood producers, directors and screenwriters including David Dhawan, Rumy Jaffery, Shashi Ranjan and Rajat Rawail to give an in-depth presentation of the complex and incentive offerings. As a result of the visit, negotiations are nearly complete to bring a production to Midwood by the end of 2018.
The studio's mission is to be the largest and most comprehensive production facility in Europe, and additional meetings with producers from China and the U.S. are underway to host additional productions in 2018-2019.
The most recent films to have been shot in Turkey include Argo, Inferno, Murder on the Orient Express and Skyfall.
