The death of young actor Anton Yelchin was announced today, he had been killed by his own car in a freak accident, just weeks before the latest Star Trek movie was released, the franchise that had given him the greatest exposure; he played Chekov. He was born in Russia to figure skater parents, who emigrated to the United States when Anton was a baby. He began acting at an early age, gaining attention in the Stephen King adaptation Hearts in Atlantis and as the main character's teenage son in the television series Huff, and soon after had established himself in such other films as Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett, Terminator Salvation, The Beaver, the Fright Night remake, Odd Thomas, Only Lovers Left Alive, Burying the Ex and Green Room. After a terrible week of news, this really has not improved things. |
