  A Solitary Mann [read more]
  Don't Come Knocking
Loic Zimmerman's acclaimed documentary on San Francisco based artist Jeremy Mann has finally made it to your living room. I say finally because, I for one, have been waiting to see this documentary since it was first announced, and that seems a very long time.

Whether you are interested in art and maybe the process behind it, or that you love Mann's work and want to know more about the him, what I can guarantee is that Zimmerman's documentary delivers on all levels.

Covering Mann at work, seeing him simple carve an incredible city-scape into the canvas, from absolutely nothing with little more than an ink-brayer left me (an aspiring artist) in awe. The documentary is also a (very) rare insight into the man himself, anyone who is a fan of Jeremy's work will know there is scarce information about him on the internet and even less in the way of video showing him at work.

This documentary fills that gap and then goes someway into showing the life of someone who truly eats, sleeps and breathes painting. Jeremy Mann truly is a solitary man. I cannot recommend this documentary highly enough, the only criticism is that it was over so quickly... so I watched it twice, back to back!

Also, I think you would all do well to check out Loic Zimmerman's website here www.loiczimmermann.com, another great artist and one who you have probably already seen his work and never realised. Loic's previous documentary Gamma Wray is also well worth viewing, covering not only the work of artist William Wray, but for you comic buffs, a whole host of superhero artwork which is just fantastic.
