The Cut at The London Film Festival [read more]
And some of the other titles to see there
Soda Pictures are thrilled to announce their acquisition of THE CUT adding to their impressive slate of films showing in the 2014 BFI London Film Festival, taking place from 8-19 October. The deal was negotiated between Soda Pictures’ MD Eve Gabereau and Michael Weber and Brigitte Suarez of The Match Factory.

THE CUT, an epic story of survival from director Fatih Akin (Head On, The Edge of Heaven), stars Tahar Rahim (Grand Central, The Prophet) as Nazaret Manoogian, an Armenian man who survives the brutal Armenian genocide during WW1. Separated from his family, enslaved and tortured, Nazaret stops at nothing in the search for his two daughters.

Other films to screen include recent acquisitions: PHOENIX a moving post-war German drama from Christian Petzold, Ron Mann’s documentary about the great late Robert Altman ALTMAN, Michael Winterbottom’s highly anticipated THE FACE OF AN ANGEL, Guy Myhill’s feature debut and Britain’s own THE GOOB, winner of the 2014 Cannes Grand Prix THE WONDERS (LE MERAVIGLIE), the acclaimed Cannes Film Festival favourite from Fred Wiseman NATIONAL GALLERY, Zeresenay Berhane Mehari’s DIFRET championed by Angelina Jolie, Lisandro Alonso’s stunning existential western JAUJA, THE TURNING a modern portrait of Australia from multiple directors including Mia Wasikowska, Naomi Kawase’s majestically beautiful STILL THE WATER (FUTATSUME NO MADO) and British drama ELECTRICITY, the directorial feature debut from Bryn Higgins starring Agyness Deyn which will also see its UK release following the Festival on December 5.
