That press release in full
Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, is looking for a Tagger in the UK and Ireland. If you’re passionate about film and TV, this could be the greatest part time job you ever hear about…
While using Netflix, you might have wondered where (and how) rows like Critically-Acclaimed-Emotional-Underdog-movies come from?
The truth is that with 48million Netflix subscribers there are 48million different people looking for what to watch next – as a company that is 80% engineers and based in Silicon Valley we don’t leave it to chance. You might love Critically-Acclaimed-Emotional-Underdog-movies, whereas your Gran might be keen on Violent Suspenseful Action & Adventure from the 1980s.
That is where Taggers come in: helping to pinpoint exactly what each member is going to want to watch next. It’s a little bit art, a little bit science and is so super accurate that sometimes it feels like we are reading minds or tea-leaves (we’re not!). We have a team of people called Taggers that help us to personalise your experience.
As a Tagger you will be paid to watch films and TV programmes, to analyse them so that Netflix can connect those titles to the people that want to see them the most.
This is the first time Netflix has appointed a Tagger outside of the Americas and there are only 40 or so taggers worldwide. The successful applicant will love watching films and TV programmes – of different genres, from different countries and in every style imaginable.
You will be part of the Netflix Enhanced Content Team and will be amongst the first to view Netflix originals – like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black –and other great exclusive shows. You will need a background and/or degree in film & TV a strong knowledge of film & TV as well as an analytical mind. Most importantly you get to watch films and TV and get paid for it!
