The British Film Collection reaches a landmark [read more]
Many happy returns for many happy rediscoveries
APRIL 2013 was the start of something special for Network Distributing. With the launch of ‘The British Film’ it cemented its commitment to classic British cinema and a year on, as well as celebrating its first birthday, the 100th title in the collection will be released.
From B-movies with giant apes climbing Big Ben, to high-class drama from the vaults of the Ealing Studios, ‘The British Film’ range is home to the titles that make up our collective film history but have been neglected and all but forgotten.
Tim Beddows, Network MD said “There's something very gratifying in opening a can of film that has been locked away for decades, ignored, unloved, forgotten. Always a sense of anticipation of what the contents might reveal because in the majority of cases no-one really knows.
“It's like mining for gold and just as dirty but a year on from the launch of ‘The British Film’ and we’ve still got more than 300 titles to liberate from the archives. The range so far has been a great success and we're as excited now as we were with the very first release to continue filling in the gaps in the history of British Film.”
