Bringing Rio to the UK
The Brazilian Film Festival of London is back again for its 6th edition celebrating the best of the most recent productions from the Brazilian cinema.
This year, the festival is bringing to Odeon Covent Garden, a riveting collection of Brazilian culture on and off screen, including the feature films:
• BOLD MOUNTAIN (dir. Hector Dahlia) one of the most celebrated Brazilian films in 2013, the film follows the story of two men in Serra Pelada, one of the largest mines in the world.
• TATTOO (dir. Hilton Lacerda) a feature film about the leader of a theatrical troupe and the Brazilian comedy.
• THE DOGNAPPER (dir. Pedro Amorim) a Brazilian comedy recounting the life of a couple and their dog.
• NEVER TOO OLD TO MEOW (dir. Rafael Primot) a story discussing the insane creative process of writers, starring Brazil's most-widely acclaimed actress Regina Duarte in the lead role.
• FIRST DAY OF ANY YEAR (dir. Domingos Oliveira) a story starting at a New Year´s eve party hosted at a journalists´ home with interesting plots developing during the event.
• CITY OF GOD, TEN YEARS LATER (dir. Cavi Borges & Luciano Vidigal) a documentary showing what has changed in the lives of the actors from the 2002 feature film, City of God.
• REVEALING SEBASTIAO SALGADO (dir. Betse de Paula) the first Brazilian documentary about one of the world´s most admired photographer, Sebastião Salgado.
• THE INVISIBLE COLLECTION (dir. Bernardo Atal) a drama about a young men in search of a collection of rare drawings.
• RIO DE FÉ, UM ENCONTRO COM PAPA FRANCISCO (dir. Carlos Diegues) a documentary about Pope Francis' visit to Brazil during the 28th World Youth Day in 2013.
As every Brazilian Film Festival edition in London, the public will choose the best long features and short films and the winner will be awarded the Cristal Lens Awards, on the closing night of the festival, 13th May. Click on the link above for more details.
