On Tuesday October 29th audiences will have the opportunity to create a little bit of history, as they bring BORROWED TIME to the Prince Charles Cinema in London's West End as the UK's first ever on-demand theatrical screening via Tugg.
At least 100 tickets need to be bought by October 21st in order for the screening to go ahead, and in doing so pioneer the advent of Cinema On Demand as a model for small independent theatrical releases.
The Tugg screening is hosted by one of the backers of BORROWED TIME's Kickstarter campaign, showing the length to which audiences are willing and driven to take more control of the films they want to see at their local cinema.
BORROWED TIME was the first film in the UK to part-raise its distribution budget via the crowd-sourcing platform with the amount matched in turn by the BFI via their “New Models” fund. See the link above for more details.
BORROWED TIME tells the story of the unlikely friendship between a hapless young burglar, Kevin (Theo Barklem-Biggs – The Inbetweeners Movie, BBC’s Silk series 2) and his eccentric victim, pensioner Philip (Phil Davis – Quadrophenia, Vera Drake, Brighton Rock). Desperate for cash and short on options to pay back local tyrant “Ninja” Nigel, Kevin breaks into Philip’s house, only to be held hostage by the old man at gunpoint.
What follows is a bittersweet comedy about growing up and rediscovering youth in parallel, as the burglar and victim form a bond that will help them both find a way out of their respective troubles.
