With Dustin Hoffman’s box office hit Quartet, interest in the magnificent privately-owned Georgian country house in Buckinghamshire, is at an all-time high. As the exclusive location for the entertaining and uplifting movie, interest in Hedsor House is set to even higher when the film is released on DVD, BLU-Ray and is available to download from 6 May.
Quartet was filmed on the picturesque historic 85-acre country estate in autumn 2011 — making its all-star cast of Dame Maggie Smith, Sir Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Pauline Collins, Sheridan Smith and Michael Gambon, regulars at the Buckinghamshire-based venue for three months.
Today Hedsor House is privately run by the fourth generation of the Shephard family as an award-wining thriving venue for exclusive wedding, events and filming. However, due to overwhelming demand, it decided to open its doors to the public for the first time and offered a select number of visitors an exclusive chance to go behind-scenes to discover how its domed Grand Hall, majestic Ballroom, Central Staircase and Boudoir as well as the stunning grounds and landscaped gardens were all transformed into key sets.
Following the film’s operatic theme, the highly talented operatic trio Tenors Un Limited will be breaking from their 10th anniversary tour on Thursday, 25 April 2013 to entertain guests at a special Quartet-themed Gala Dinner featuring performances of many of the hit film’s great arias.
Meanwhile, a summer screening of Quartet in the house’s grounds will take place on Friday, 21 June and Les Miserables will be shown on Thursday, 20 June. Tickets for Hedsor House’s Open Air Cinema cost £12.50 plus a booking fee. For more information, click on the link above.
