Jennifer Jones, a star whose private life became as celebrated as her movies, has died of natural causes it has been announced. She won her Oscar for The Song of Bernadette, after a few B-movies under her real name, and went on to appear in quite a few other of her future husband David O. Selznick's productions. Her best films included war drama Since You Went Away, cult western Duel in the Sun, romantic fantasy Portrait of Jennie, melodrama Ruby Gentry, another cult in Beat the Devil, Love is a Many Splendored Thing, The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, Tender is the Night, camp item The Idol, cult exploitation movie Angel, Angel Down We Go, and her final role as Fred Astaire's potential partner in The Towering Inferno. |
