Dan O'Bannon, the American writer of pulpy yet innovative sci-fi and horror, has died after a short illness. His credits included Dark Star (which he also acted in as the misfit Pinback), Alien, Dead and Buried, Heavy Metal, Blue Thunder, Lifeforce, Total Recall and Screamers. His only films as director were cult favourite Return of the Living Dead and obscure H.P. Lovecraft adaptation The Resurrected. |
