Cult movie star David Carradine has died at the age of 72, found in his Bangkok hotel room with a rope around him. Sad to say, the manner of his death is likely to overshadow a long career where he appeared in both blockbusters and straight to video quickies, and of course the lead role in the television series Kung Fu.
The son of John Carradine, his most popular era was probably the seventies, where he starred in such notables as Martin Scorsese's Boxcar Bertha, Death Race 2000, Cannonball, Bound for Glory (one of his most acclaimed roles as Woody Guthrie), Ingmar Bergman's The Serpent's Egg, Deathsport and The Silent Flute. Later came The Long Riders (appearing with his brothers Keith and Robert), Q, Lone Wolf McQuade and a late success in the Kill Bill movies. One of his final appearances was in this year's Crank: High Voltage. Always a confident, charismatic presence, fans of low budget exploitation will definitely miss him.
