Harvey Korman, the comic actor whose skills enlivened Mel Brooks comedies and The Flintstones alike, has died. His first film was a Herschell Gordon Lewis quickie called Living Venus, but he really got his foot in the showbiz door on television, appearing with the likes of Red Skelton, Jack Benny and Lucille Ball. It was The Carol Burnett Show that won him most fame in America, but Brooks' Blazing Saddles and Korman's role as Hedley Lamarr is what he will be best remembered for: a truly great performance. Other films he worked on included Lord Love a Duck, High Anxiety, Herbie Goes Bananas and Radioland Murders. He also appeared in the notorious Star Wars Holiday Special.
