Richard Widmark, a Hollywood star since the forties, has died at his home after a long illness. Ever the professional, he appeared alongside some of the biggest names in the industry proving himself adept at heroes and villains alike. His cult movies included a star-making debut as the psycho killer in Kiss of Death, Road House (the original), Night and the City, Panic in the Streets, Don't Bother to Knock (with Marilyn Monroe), Samuel Fuller's Pickup on South Street, The Cobweb, The Long Ships, The Bedford Incident, Madigan (also a TV series), Hammer's last To The Devil A Daughter, Rollercoaster, Coma, bad movie classic The Swarm, and Who Dares Wins. Other films included How the West Was Won, Judgement at Nuremberg, Cheyenne Autumn and Murder on the Orient Express (as the victim) |
