  Armchair Thriller on DVD
  Classic British TV
Brace yourself for a terrifying experience... Network is delighted to announce the release of two ARMCHAIR THRILLER stories, which are available to buy separately on DVD for the first time on 21st January 2008, RRP £12.99 each, complete and uncut.

Originally broadcast between 1978 and 1980 by Thames Television on ITV, this prime-time drama anthology was a big hit, notable for the cliff-hangers at the end of each episode, which left the viewer uneasily craving the next installment. Initially instilling fear is the sinister hand in the opening sequence coupled with the eerie theme tune devised by Roxy Music’s Andy Mackay. Include the unforgettable trailers which ITV ran before its other programmes which reveal the infamous couch with blood plus a contorted screaming face and you have the terrifying ingredients to a drama which regularly attracted 17 million viewers that still packs a shocking punch today.

RACHEL IN DANGER. Directed by the acclaimed Waris Husein (The Possession of Joel Delaney) and written by John Bowen (Hetty Wainthrop Investigates) this four-part drama is about Rachel (Della Low), a 10-year-old girl who travels from Scotland to London to stay with the father she has never met. Little does she know that her dad has been murdered and the man she believes to be him is in fact part of an international terrorist group planning to assassinate a member of the Royal Family...

A DOG’S RANSOM. Directed by Donald McWhinnie (Rumpole of the Bailey), based on Patricia Highsmith's novel and adapted for TV by John Bowen. Edward (Benjamin Whitrow – Chicken Run) and Gina Reynolds (Zena Walker – The Prisoner) are an affluent couple living in Chelsea in this six-part tale They treat their white poodle, Tina, like a child. But when the cute little pooch is kidnapped their lifestyle is threatened in this engaging tale involving a sociopath and police corruption.

Each of these ARMCHAIR THRILLER releases will appeal to all fans of quality dramas and previous Network releases such as Thriller and Tales of the Unexpected.
