1st October sees the launch of Shameless Screen Entertainment which will be a highly visible pulp-inspired in-your-face exploitation brand of discovery offering up carefully picked vile, evil, gore-soaked, demented, disturbing, deranged, naked flesh-filled, flesh-ripping, depraved, tormenting movies that will delight horror and exploitation fans. Working from a growing vault of several hundred films Shameless will often be able to offer titles brought for the first time to UK DVD and in some cases films never before available on UK home video!
Shameless don't plan to add to the pyre of bland remakes, over-exposed classics and all the rubbish-in-between cheapo horror that's clogging-up the shelves but rather to showcase all sorts of rare delights with the longest, best available versions of each film released at the low RRP of £12.99.
Shameless are borrowing a lot of old school video techniques to help their titles stand out. The 80s were great days for selling exploitation titles and they feel that over the years a lot of tricks have been missed. Look on eBay and you'll see vibrant sales for old VHS and even Betamax titles from Thorn EMI, Vipco, Intervision, Avco Embassy, Medusa and even majors like old Warner Bros titles. What they all shared were gratuitous, in-your-face lurid artwork that promised an unforgettable night-in.
October, November and December will be stuffed with quality horror alternatives just in time for Halloween and of course for Christmas where plenty of people want to seek refuge from all the syrupy sweetness with several bolts of terror, gore and shocks!
Apart from The Black Cat none of the titles coming out in 2007 have been released on UK DVD, all are presented in their longest ever versions and they all offer something different. New York Ripper is the ultimate in shock gore, Phantom of Death boasts impeccable cast and crew clearly having a ball, Torso is a saw-filled delight comparable to the best Argento films, Killer Nun is quite possibly the ultimate Nun movie, Black Cat is a rare Lucio Fulci film that showcases his skills in atmospheric dread and their version of Venus in Furs is the true sexy exploitation tribute to the S&M book of the same name.
