Next month sees Gela Babluani follow his critically acclaimed directorial debut, 13 (TZAMETI), with Sundance award-winner LEGACY (L’HERITAGE) – a poignant tale of a long-lasting family feud with fatal repercussions. Co-directed by Gela’s father Témur Babluani, and starring his brother Georges, LEGACY is a family affair both in creation and story, with the Georgian filmmakers’ home country providing an enigmatic backdrop against which the film unfolds.
Following the release of LEGACY Gela Babluani will direct the American remake of 13 (TZAMETI), which was snatched up by US producers following the overwhelming critical response upon its UK release by Revolver Entertainment in 2006. LEGACY has also been selected to play in the director’s showcase at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.
