One thing all of these movies have in common is that they are infinitely better than Bio-Dome. (Yes, it's the only thing they have in common - as Richard E. Grant only appeared in Spiceworld)
Bio-Dome, like many movies that I actually like, brings to mind images and emotions when I think of it. Such as genocide. Flame-thowers. The advantage that Ray Milland has in The Man With The X-Ray Eyes (after he gouges them out). It's a crap movie. It has no redeemable features whatsoever, and the leads should have been put out of their misery as a service to movie-going humanity everywhere.
I guess I should skim over the plot (after all, that's just what they did). Bud and Doyle are two wasters who try to impress their eco-aspiring girlfriends by pretending to care about the world. But when they pull over and stop to take a leak, they mistake a major ecological experimental facility for a shopping mall, and get locked in to the facility for a year. They trash it, then try to rebuild it. And become famous at the same time.
Now, there's a few unanswered questions here. Firstly, how did two complete goits like Bud and Doyle ever get girlfriends in the first place? Secondly, when they approach the facility, why didn't the guards shoot them (or at least send them away)? And thirdly, why oh why do people design hermetically sealed eco-environmental spheres with windows that you can open?
I'm sitting here shaking my head as I write this. I can't think of anything positive to say about the movie. And it has Joey Lauren Adams and the lovely Kylie Minogue in it. And still it's unadulterated crap. I'm forced to select a genre of Comedy for this, but it's only because I have no choice, trust me on this.
I'd go for the root canal treatment if I were you. Much less painful, and the memories will fade faster.
